Designing the PDF your customer receives
Every submission produces a PDF. By default it is a clean generic layout of your answers. The PDF Designer lets you place things exactly where you want them instead.
Your logo and branding
Upload your logo in Settings → Company Logo. It appears on every PDF without any further work.
When to use the designer
Use the generic layout unless you have a reason not to. Reach for the designer when:
- A customer or a regulator expects a specific form layout
- You need particular values in particular positions on the page
- You are replacing a paper form people already recognise
Placing fields
Drag elements onto the page and bind each one to a field on the form. A repeating section can be bound two ways:
- As a table, which loops over every instance — the default, and what you
want most of the time.
- Pinned to an instance, where a specific answer from instance 1 or 2 lands
in a specific box. This exists because some clients will not accept a grid.
Overflow
When a table has more rows than the box has room for, the element's overflow setting decides what happens: continue onto extra pages, or stop at the box. Pick continuation unless the layout is fixed by someone else's rules.
Check it with real data
Design against a real submission, not an empty form. Values are longer than you expect and that is where layouts break.
