Your first form, from build to phone
The fastest way to see whether this fits your business: get one real form onto one real phone. Half an hour, start to finish.
1. Start from a template, not a blank page
Open Form Builder and pick a starter for your trade. The fields, the conditional logic and what happens on submit are already in it — you are editing a working form rather than building one.
If nothing fits exactly, take the closest one. Changing a form you can see is much faster than imagining one you cannot.
2. Change what does not match
Click any field to open its settings. Rename it, make it required, or delete it. Add field puts a new one in. The things worth checking on your first pass:
- Field labels that use your words rather than ours
- Anything marked required that should not be
- The Category the form appears under, so your crew can find it
3. Send it to a phone
Create a job on the Schedule, attach the form to it as part of the job packet, and assign it to someone. It appears on their device.
The quickest test is to assign it to yourself and open the app on your own phone.
4. Fill it in and submit
Fill it in as a technician would — including the photo and the signature if it has them. On submit you get the branded PDF, and the submission shows up in the office.
5. Look at what came back
Open the submission. Every answer is stored as a typed value against the field you named, which is what makes it searchable later rather than a flat document.
That loop — build, dispatch, fill, receive — is the whole product. Everything else is detail on top of it.
