Getting paid
An invoice sitting in an inbox is not payment. This shortens the gap.
Payment links
Connect Stripe and a payment link is created when you send an invoice. The customer clicks and pays; you do not chase a cheque or read a card number over the phone.
The customer portal
Customers can sign in to see their invoices and pay there. See Setting up the portal.
Keeping the books straight
If you use QuickBooks, connect it and paid status flows back, so an invoice settled in QuickBooks stops looking outstanding here.
What "Collected" means
The Invoices screen totals what has actually been collected, not what has been issued. They are different numbers and only one of them pays wages.
If a payment does not show
Payment status is pulled from Stripe rather than guessed. If a customer says they paid and the invoice still shows outstanding, check the payment actually completed in Stripe first — a card that failed 3-D Secure looks like a payment to the person who typed the number in.
